ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Arousal

Okay kiddo, so arousal is when your body starts to feel really excited or alert. It can happen for lots of reasons, like when you get scared, or when you see or hear something that makes you happy or interested.

Sometimes your body might react to arousal by making your heart beat faster, your breath quicken, or your body feel tingly or warm. This is because your brain is telling your body to be ready for action, like if you need to run away or get ready to do something exciting.

But arousal doesn't always have to be related to danger or excitement. Sometimes, it can happen because of things like touch, smells, or thoughts that make you feel good. This is often what people mean when they talk about "sexual arousal," or feeling turned on.

Overall, arousal is just your body's way of getting ready for something important, whether it's a scary situation, a thrilling adventure, or a special moment with someone you love. It's a natural and normal part of being a human!
