Arsik

Arsik is a traditional food from the Batak people in Indonesia. It is made by cooking rice with a special spice mixture made of garlic, ginger, shallots, salt, and a special ingredient called andaliman.

First, the rice is cooked in a pot until it is partially cooked, then the spice mixture is added. The mixture is stirred into the rice until it is evenly distributed. Then, the pot is covered and left to cook until the rice is fully cooked and the spices have infused into it, giving it a delicious flavor.

Arsik can be eaten alone or with a side dish, and is often served at special occasions such as weddings or religious ceremonies. It is a beloved dish in the culture and tradition of the Batak people.
