Art for art's sake

Okay kiddo, have you ever made a drawing just because it made you happy to make it? You weren't trying to show it to anyone or make money off of it, you just did it because it felt good to you. That's kind of what "art for art's sake" means.

Sometimes grown-ups make art just because they want to, without worrying about impressing anyone or making money from it. They might make a painting or sculpture or even just scribble on a piece of paper, and it doesn't have to mean anything or have a message. They just enjoy making it and looking at it.

People have been making art for art's sake for a long, long time. It's a way to express yourself without worrying about what other people think, and it can be really fun and relaxing. So if you ever feel like making some art just because you want to, go for it!
