ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Artificial scarcity

Artificial scarcity is when something is purposefully made rare. It means that something is limited or in short supply, usually because it's been made that way on purpose. For example, when a company releases a new toy during the holiday season, they usually make a limited amount of it on purpose. This makes it seem more special and important, and makes people want it more. It also means that people will be willing to pay more money for it. Artificial scarcity can be a good thing because it helps to keep the demand and the price of something high.
