Artificial ventilation

Artificial ventilation is something doctors and nurses do to help someone breathe when they are not able to do so on their own. Just like how we need air to breathe, our bodies also need oxygen. When a person is not able to breathe properly, doctors and nurses use a special machine called a ventilator to help them breathe.

The ventilator is connected to a tube that goes into the person's mouth or nose and down into their lungs. The machine then pushes air into the lungs and pulls it out, just like the person would do if they were breathing normally. This helps the person get the oxygen they need to stay alive.

Doctors and nurses also adjust the settings on the ventilator machine to make sure the person is getting the right amount of air and oxygen. Sometimes, they also use medicines to relax the person's muscles so they can breathe easier with the help of the machine.

Artificial ventilation can be scary and uncomfortable, but it is an important way for doctors and nurses to help sick people breathe until they are able to do so on their own again.
