Astronomical catalog

An astronomical catalog is like a big list of all the things we can see in the sky like stars, planets, and galaxies. It helps astronomers keep track of everything and make it easier to study them. It's like a really big to-do list of things we need to learn more about. The catalog also gives each object its own special code so we can find it again easily. So, just like you have a list of toys you want to play with, astronomers have a catalog of things they want to learn more about in space.
