Atrial natriuretic peptide

Atrial natriuretic peptide is like a little helper in our bodies that helps us pee. It's made in a special part of our heart called the atria. When the heart senses that there's too much water in our body, it releases the atrial natriuretic peptide to tell our kidneys to let go of some of that extra water and salt.

Just like how your parents might tell you to drink more water on a hot day, the atrial natriuretic peptide tells your kidneys to get rid of extra water when there's too much in your body. This helps to keep your body balanced and healthy!
