ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Author citation (botany)

When someone writes about a plant, they might mention who found it, studied it, or wrote about it before. This is called an author citation. It's like giving credit to someone for doing something important related to the plant.

For example, let's say a scientist named John Smith found a new kind of flower and wrote about it. Another scientist, named Sarah Green, also studied this flower and wrote about it in a book. If someone else writes about this flower later on, they might say "Smith" and "Green" in the author citation to give them credit for their work.

Overall, an author citation helps us understand where information about a plant came from and who to thank for discovering and studying it.
