Autotransformer

Have you ever played with a toy transformer that can change its shape like a car turning into a robot? An autotransformer is like a transformer, but it doesn't change its shape. It's a special kind of electrical device that helps change the voltage of electricity.

Imagine that you have a toy car with a battery inside it. The battery sends electricity to the car's motor, which makes the car move. But what if the motor needs more or less electricity to move the car at different speeds?

This is where an autotransformer comes in. It can change the voltage of the electricity that's going to the motor, which makes the motor work harder or slower. It does this by using just one coil of wire, instead of two coils like a regular transformer.

The big coil of wire has two connections, and the smaller coil of wire is connected to one of those connections. When electricity flows through the big coil, it creates a magnetic field that affects the smaller coil. This changes the voltage of the electricity going to the motor, which lets you control how fast the car moves.

So, an autotransformer is like a toy transformer that doesn't change its shape, and helps change the voltage of electricity, making things like electric toy cars or machines work faster or slower depending on how much voltage is needed.
