Azerbaijani pakhlava

Okay kiddo, do you know what a sweet dessert is? Yes? Good! Azerbaijani Pakhlava is a very special sweet dessert that comes from Azerbaijan. It's made up of many layers of very thin and crispy pastry, kind of like a pie crust.

Each layer is brushed with melted butter and filled with crushed nuts and sugar, which makes it very crunchy and sweet. The traditional nuts used are walnuts and pistachios, but sometimes almonds or hazelnuts are used too.

After all the layers are piled up, the Pakhlava is cut into small diamond-shaped pieces and baked in the oven until it's crispy and golden brown. The final touch is a drizzle of honey or sugar syrup on top of the Pakhlava, which makes it very soft and gooey.

Azerbaijani people love Pakhlava and often serve it at special occasions like weddings and holidays. It's so yummy that you might want to have a whole tray of it all for yourself, but it's best to share with others to spread the joy!
