Azulejo

Azulejo is a type of ceramic tile that is often used in Spain and Portugal to decorate buildings, both inside and outside. They come in many different colors and designs, which can be used to create beautiful patterns and pictures on walls and floors.

To make azulejo tiles, clay is first shaped into a flat square shape. The clay is then baked in an oven at a very high temperature until it becomes hard and durable. After the tile has cooled, a glaze is applied to the surface to give it a shiny, smooth finish.

Azulejo tiles are famous for their intricate designs, which can range from simple geometric shapes to elaborate scenes from history and mythology. They are often used to decorate churches, palaces, and public buildings, and are considered an important part of the cultural heritage of both Spain and Portugal.

So the next time you see a beautiful wall or floor covered in colorful tiles with interesting designs, remember that they are azulejo tiles, made from clay and decorated with care and skill to create a work of art that can last for centuries.
