ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Báb

A Báb is a special and important person in the Bahá'í Faith. Think of a Báb like a superhero or a very wise teacher who came to help people understand God better.

The first Báb was born in Persia (now Iran) a long time ago, in the year 1819. His real name was Siyyid 'Ali Muhammad, but he became known as the Báb, which means "Gate" in Arabic.

The Báb thought that it was really important for people to know and love God, but he saw that many people around him were not following their faiths in the right way. He wanted to help them and show them a better path towards God.

So, the Báb traveled around Persia, teaching people about God and telling them that a new messenger from God was coming soon. He also encouraged people to treat each other with respect and kindness, and to work together to make the world a better place.

Unfortunately, some people didn't like the Báb's message and thought it was dangerous. They arrested him and put him in jail, but that didn't stop his followers from spreading his message.

Eventually, the Báb was executed for his beliefs, but many people were inspired by his teachings and continued to follow them. Today, the Bahá'í Faith, which is based on the Báb's teachings, has millions of followers around the world who try to live their lives in a way that honors God and promotes peace and unity among all people.
