Baggywrinkle

Baggywrinkle is a type of soft and fluffy material that is used to protect boats and ships from getting damaged by ropes. When boats and ships are anchored or docked, they need to use ropes to keep them in place. However, these ropes can rub against the boat's sides and create friction that can cause damage to the paint or even the boat itself.

To prevent this from happening, baggywrinkle is wrapped around ropes before they are tied to the boat. Baggywrinkle is made from strands of soft material that are twisted together. It looks a lot like a long, skinny mop head, but it's much softer and fluffier. When the ropes are wrapped in baggywrinkle, it creates a cushion that helps to reduce the amount of friction between the ropes and the boat. This means that the boat stays in good condition and doesn't get scratched or damaged.

So, in simple terms, baggywrinkle is a fluffy material that is used to protect boats from rope damage when they are anchored or docked.
