Barnum effect

The Barnum effect is when people believe something is true even though it could apply to almost anyone. It's like when you go to the circus and the fortune teller says something about your life that seems like it was written just for you. Even though it wasn't, you still believe it! That's because the fortune teller's statement was broad enough that it could fit almost anyone, but specific enough that you think it was written just for you.
