Bartizan

A bartizan (also spelled bastion) is a structure that is built at the corner of a wall or building. It has a platform on top that is used to look out and spot danger. It also provides soldiers the opportunity to shoot their weapons to help protect the wall or building. Bartizans were often used in castles during medieval times to help protect people from enemies.
