Basketball at the Commonwealth Games

Okay kiddo, so you know what basketball is, right? It's a game where you bounce a ball and try to throw it into a net, called a hoop. Well, at the Commonwealth Games, which is a big sports event where athletes from different countries compete, basketball is just one of the sports that they play.

Basically, each country gets to put together a team of their best basketball players, and they all compete against each other to see who's the best. They play on a big court with two hoops at opposite ends. The teams try to score points by getting the ball in the other team's hoop while also making sure the other team doesn't get the ball from them.

There are certain rules they have to follow, like you can't double dribble (that means bouncing the ball with both hands at the same time), you can't run while holding the ball, and you have to stay on your side of the court. If any player breaks these rules, the other team gets a free throw, which means they get to have a chance to score a point without any defense.

At the end of the game, the team with the most points wins. And if a bunch of different teams play against each other, they have something called a bracket, which is just a way of showing who plays who and who advances to the next round.

So basically, basketball at the Commonwealth Games is just like regular basketball, but with really good players from different countries competing against each other to see who's the best.
