ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Bed-In

Imagine you have a new bed or mattress. You're very excited to sleep on it because you think it's going to be super comfortable. But, when you first lie down, it doesn't feel as soft and cozy as you thought it would.

That's where bed-in comes in. Bed-in is a way to break in your new bed or mattress to help it become more comfortable. Similar to how a new pair of shoes needs to be "broken in" by being worn a few times to feel more comfortable, a new bed needs to be "broken in" to feel more comfortable too.

To bed-in your new bed or mattress, you need to sleep on it for a few nights or weeks, depending on the material and construction. This will help to soften up the mattress fibers and fillers, and usually result in a more comfortable sleeping surface.

Sometimes, bedding manufacturers recommend a specific bed-in time or process for their products, so be sure to read the instructions or ask for guidance.

In summary, a bed-in is a way to "break in" your new mattress and make it more comfortable by sleeping on it for a little while.
