Bedil (term)

Bedil is a word that means "flintlock" in English. A flintlock is a special kind of gun that is really old-fashioned. It was used a long time ago by people who needed a way to protect themselves or hunt for food.

Inside a flintlock, there is a tiny rock called a "flint". When someone wants to shoot the gun, they pull back a part called the "hammer" and that makes the flint hit against a piece of metal called the "frizzen". When the flint hits the frizzen, it makes a spark.

The spark travels into a little hole in the gun where there is something called "gunpowder". The spark makes the gunpowder explode, and that explosion sends a bullet flying out of the front of the gun.

So, when people say "bedil", they mean a special kind of gun called a flintlock that uses a spark to shoot out a bullet. It's not used very much anymore because newer and better guns have been invented, but it's still a really interesting part of history to learn about!
