ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Begging the question

Begging the question means someone is asking a question but the answer to the question is found in the question itself. Usually, this happens when someone doesn't back up their argument with facts or evidence. For example, if someone said, “I think everyone should always eat ice cream because ice cream is nutritious,” that person is begging the question. They didn't provide any facts about why ice cream is nutritious (like vitamins, minerals, etc.). So this statement doesn’t make sense.
