The Bevin Boys were young men from Great Britain during World War II who were between the ages of 18-20. The government created this program because there were not enough coal miners to work in the coal mines and keep the economy going. So, the government asked the young men to work in the coal mines instead. They did this to keep the country exercising its rights. The Bevin Boys worked hard in the coal mines and did their best to help the country stay strong.
