Biblical Egypt

Okay kiddo, have you heard stories about Egypt? It's a country in Africa that is very famous because of its ancient history. Long time ago, there were people in Egypt called Pharaohs who ruled over the land. They were very powerful and important people.

In the Bible, there are stories about Egypt too. One of the most famous stories is about a man called Moses. He was a Hebrew who was raised as an Egyptian prince. Later on he found out that he was actually a Hebrew and wanted to free his people, who were slaves in Egypt.

Moses met with the Pharaoh and asked him to let his people go, but the Pharaoh refused. So, God sent ten plagues to Egypt, like turning the Nile River into blood, bringing frogs, and locusts. Eventually, the Pharaoh agreed to let the Hebrew people leave.

The Hebrews left Egypt, but the Pharaoh changed his mind and sent his army to chase them. God helped the Hebrews by parting the Red Sea so they could cross but drowning the pursuing Egyptians.

There are also other stories in the Bible about Egypt. For example, there was a time when Joseph, one of the sons of Jacob, was sold into slavery in Egypt. But he proved to be a wise and trustworthy person, so Pharaoh put him in charge of the country's food supply during a famine.
