Bioreactor landfill

Okay kiddo, imagine a big, big hole in the ground where we put our trash. Instead of just leaving all the garbage to rot on its own, we use a special kind of landfill called a bioreactor.

It's kind of like a big compost bin where we can control what happens to the garbage inside. We add some special liquids to the trash to help it break down faster and become more like soil.

The garbage gets mixed and turned over to help the liquids and bacteria do their work. As the trash breaks down, it creates a special kind of gas called methane.

Now, instead of just letting the gas escape into the air, we can actually capture it and use it to make electricity! And the final result of all of this? Less smelly garbage, less pollution, and more clean energy. Cool, huh?
