Birtherism

Birtherism is the idea that a person who becomes the president of a country was not actually born in that country. This idea came about when some people claimed that former President Barack Obama was not born in the United States but in Kenya, which made him ineligible to be president. Some people wanted Obama to show his birth certificate to prove that he was born in the United States. However, Obama did show his birth certificate, and it was confirmed that he was born in Hawaii, which makes him a natural-born citizen and eligible to be the president. So, birtherism is a false belief that some people may hold about a president's eligibility to hold office based on where they were born.
