Bitumen

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a road being built or repaired? The dark and sticky stuff that they use to make the road is called bitumen.

Bitumen is made from a mixture of different things like petroleum, tar, and natural gas. It looks like black, thick, and sticky syrup or molasses. It is so thick and sticky that you can walk on it, and it won't come off easily.

Bitumen is used to make different things like roads, roofs of houses, and waterproofing materials. When it is hot, it becomes softer and more flexible, but when it is cold, it becomes harder and more brittle.

Bitumen is not good for the environment because it is made from the fossil fuel that takes millions of years to form. It can also cause pollution if it spills or leaks. However, it is still widely used because it is cheap, easy to produce, and very durable.
