Black triangle (pharmacovigilance)

Okay kiddo, you know when you get a shot or take medicine to feel better when you're sick? Well sometimes those medicines can have side effects or make you feel worse instead.

In order to help make sure the medicine you take is safe, there are people who are paid to watch and report any problems that happen after someone takes medicine. One way they do this is by putting a black triangle next to the name of the medicine.

The black triangle means that the medicine is being watched extra carefully because it might have caused problems for some people in the past. So doctors and nurses know to be extra careful when giving that medicine to someone and to make sure they watch out for any problems that might happen.

It's like a warning sign to make sure we're being extra safe when taking certain kinds of medicine.
