ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Body image (medicine)

Body image is how you see and feel about your body. It's like a picture in your head of what you look like - do you feel good about your body or do you feel bad about it?

Your body is made up of lots of different parts, like arms, legs, a tummy, and a head. Sometimes people feel really good about certain parts of their body and not so good about others.

It's important to remember that everyone's body is different and that's okay! Your body is special and unique, just like you are.

Sometimes, people might feel like they don't look like the people they see on TV or in magazines. But those people are usually changed to look a certain way with special makeup or computer programs. It's not always like that in real life.

It's important to focus on staying healthy and happy, instead of worrying about how you look. Eat nutritious food, exercise, get enough sleep, and do things that make you happy. When you take care of your body, you'll feel good inside and out.
