Boot Engineering Extension Record

A boot engineering extension record (or BOOTEE) is a special type of computer file that tells the computer how to start up (or "boot") with a specific operating system. It is stored on the hard drive of your computer, and each time your computer starts up it looks for this record to know what operating system you want to use. The BOOTEE contains information about which files to load and where they are located on your hard drive, so that the computer knows how to start the operating system.
