So, imagine you have a really big ball. This ball is so big that we can all live on top of it, and it's called Earth. But even though it's big, it's not just solid all the way through like a giant rock.
Inside the Earth, there are different layers. The outer layer that we live on is called the crust. Beneath that is the mantle, and then the core. The mantle and core are really hot, much hotter than anything you've ever touched or felt.
When people talk about boring into the Earth, they mean they want to drill a really deep hole to see what's inside. But drilling through the Earth is really hard. Imagine trying to drill through a giant ball, with a really hot gooey middle that moves around a lot.
The deepest anyone has ever drilled is about 7.5 miles. That might sound really deep, but it's only about 0.2% of the way through the Earth! It's kind of like trying to scratch the surface of an apple with your little finger.
So, if you want to know what's really at the center of the Earth, you'll have to keep dreaming and imagining, because it's too far down for us to reach just yet.
