A Boston Marriage was a term used in the late 1800s and early 1900s to describe a living arrangement between two women. These women usually had strong emotional ties and formed close relationships—they were often life partners. They would live together as a couple sharing a home and raising children, without involving any men. This was especially popular among women who worked in professions, such as teaching, since they had more financial independence.
