The Bristol Slave Trade was a period in history when people living in the city of Bristol in England bought, sold and transported people from Africa to be used as slaves in the Americas and the Caribbean. People from Africa were taken against their will by people from Bristol and other parts of England, and were forced to work on plantations and in homes as slaves. The slaves were treated very badly and had very little rights. The Slave Trade was eventually made illegal, which meant that people were no longer allowed to buy, sell or transport slaves.
