Brutalichnus

Okay kiddo, let me explain to you what Brutalichnus is in a way that is easy to understand.

Have you ever played in the sand at the beach or a sandbox? You might have made shapes in the sand with your hands, like a castle or a car. Well, animals can also make shapes in the sand or mud, but they do it to survive!

Brutalichnus is the name of a type of fossil that was made by a very special animal that lived a long time ago. This animal was called a crustacean, and it looked kind of like a crab or lobster. But instead of making shapes with its hands, this crustacean used its big claws to dig tunnels in the sand or mud.

These tunnels were like little homes for the crustacean. It would hide in there to stay safe from predators, or to wait for food to come by. And when the crustacean moved around inside the tunnel, it would leave special marks on the walls. These marks are called Brutalichnus.

Scientists can study these fossils to learn more about how these animals lived and survived in their environment a long time ago. Isn't that cool?
