Butanol fuel is a type of fuel made out of a compound called butanol. Butanol is made out of plant materials like corn and sugar cane, or sometimes recycled materials like paper and wood. The plant materials or recycled materials are combined with water and then turned into butanol. Then, this butanol is used to power cars, trucks, boats, and other vehicles just like regular gasoline or diesel fuel. But unlike gasoline and diesel, butanol produces fewer emissions that pollute the air, making it better for the environment.
