A butcher is a person who cuts up animals (such as cows, pigs, and chickens) into pieces of meat that we can eat. The animal parts are usually delivered to the butcher already dead and with the fur or feathers removed. The butcher will then use special knives and tools to separate the meat into different cuts like steak, ground beef, bacon, and chicken nuggets. Butchers also make sure the meat is safe to eat by following rules about cleanliness and keeping the meat at the right temperature. So basically, a butcher turns animals into yummy meat that we can cook and eat.
