Byzantine poetry

Byzantine poetry is a type of poetry that people in the Byzantine Empire used to write a long time ago. The Byzantine Empire was a really big place a long time ago, kind of like a big kingdom. When people wrote things down back then, they would often write them in a really fancy way to make them sound really special. Byzantine poetry was one of those fancy ways of writing things down that people used.

The poems were often about really important things, like faith, religion, and politics. They would talk about important people and events that were happening around them. These poems were usually written in a special way, with lots of fancy words and rhymes. They would also use something called "meter," which meant that the words would have a certain beat to them.

People who wrote Byzantine poetry were highly respected in their society. It was kind of like being a really famous singer or rapper today. People loved hearing these poems because they were so special and fancy. And even though they were written a really long time ago, we can still read them and appreciate them today!
