Byzantine science

Byzantine science was the scientific knowledge in the Byzantine Empire, which was the Eastern Roman Empire (the Roman Empire that lasted until the 1400s). It was a mix of Greek and Roman scientific knowledge, along with ideas from the Islamic world. Scientists in the Byzantine Empire studied medicine, astronomy, mathematics, geography, and other sciences. They made important discoveries, such as improved methods for treating diseases, as well as advances in mathematics and astronomy. Byzantine science also includes the idea that all knowledge can be found in books, so scientists in the Byzantine Empire collected and studied old books to learn new things.
