Okay kiddo, so imagine you and your friends are playing hide and seek. Now imagine that the United States of America and Cuba are playing a game of hide and seek, except instead of hiding from each other, they are trying to find out what the other is up to.
The United States' secret organization called the Central Intelligence Agency, or the CIA for short, has been trying to figure out what Cuba is doing for a long time. This is because Cuba has a different kind of government than the United States and the two countries have not always gotten along well.
So, the CIA has been sending spies (people who pretend to be someone else to get information) to Cuba for many years. These spies try to find out what the Cuban government is planning by listening to conversations and watching people. They also try to get pictures of important things, like military bases or secret meetings.
But, the Cuban government is also very aware of what the CIA is up to and they try to catch the spies. This is like if you were playing hide and seek and your little brother caught you trying to hide behind a tree.
Sometimes, the CIA's activities in Cuba can cause problems between the two countries. But, the United States believes that it is important to know what other countries are doing to make sure that everyone is being safe and not planning anything harmful.
Does that make sense, little one?
