ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Caco-2

Caco-2 cells are cells that come from the lining of the intestine. Scientists use them to study how certain drugs and chemicals move in and out of cells. Caco-2 cells are special because they act like real intestinal cells and they contain many of the proteins and enzymes that real intestinal cells would have. Scientists use them to understand how the intestine works and to search for new drugs that treat diseases of the intestine.
