Calvinists are people who believe in the teachings of a 16th century French leader and religious thinker named John Calvin. Calvin taught that people should be exceptionally faithful to their religion, and also that God had already chosen who would be saved from eternal punishment before the world began. This means that even though we have free will and the ability to choose, God already knows who will be saved and who won't, so there is nothing we can do to change our fate. Calvinists also teach that God is all-powerful and in control of everything that happens in the world.
