ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Carbon fixation

Carbon fixation is a process of turning carbon dioxide gas (which is in the air) into a form of matter that living things can use, like glucose. It's like taking a gas and turning it into a solid. This process is done by plants, algae and some bacteria, using energy from the sun to help them. If it wasn't for this process, all the carbon dioxide in the air would stay there and nothing would be able to use it for life.
