Carbon nanotubes in photovoltaics

Carbon nanotubes are tiny tubes made of atoms of carbon. They are about fifty thousand times thinner than a strand of hair! Photovoltaics are special materials that use sunlight (light from the sun) to make electricity. Scientists are finding ways to use carbon nanotubes in photovoltaics to help make solar panels more efficient. These nanotubes act like very small antennas to trap light from the sun and convert it into usable electricity. This electricity can be used in businesses and homes. The nanotubes help solar panels work better by trapping more light from the sun and making the electricity more efficient.
