Carbon nanotube

Carbon nanotubes are tiny tubes made up of carbon atoms, the same atoms that make up the black pencil lead that you use to draw things. Carbon nanotubes are that tiny, almost the size of a billionth of a metre! They have some amazing properties - they are super strong, very light, and they conduct electricity and heat. Scientists can make lots of different nanotubes that have different levels of strength, electrical conductivity and heat conductivity. They are used for things like protective coatings for airplanes, medical devices, and sensors, and scientists are finding more and more uses for them all the time.
