ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Carbonizing

Okay, let's imagine you have some wood or other plant material, like a stick or a twig. When you heat it up really hot without any oxygen around (oxygen is like the air we breathe), it turns into something called "charcoal".

Carbonizing is just another word for this process of turning wood or plant material into charcoal.

This happens because the heat causes the plant material to release gases and water, leaving behind a black, hard substance that can be used for things like cooking fuel or making art materials.

So, when you carbonize something, you're basically cooking it until it turns into charcoal. It's kind of like making a piece of toast, but on a much larger scale!
