Cartesian materialism is a type of philosophy that says that the only things that exist are physical objects and their properties. This means that anything you can touch or see is real, and anything that doesn't exist as a physical object doesn't exist at all. This kind of thinking was suggested by a philosopher named René Descartes, who is often credited with being the first person to come up with this idea. He said that matter (or physical objects) is the only thing that exists, and all of the actions, qualities, and ideas we experience are just different forms of matter.
