Cat scratch fever

Okay, so have you ever played with a cat and it scratched you? Ouch, that hurts, right?

Well, sometimes when a cat scratches you, you can get something called "cat scratch fever." It's a kind of infection caused by germs that can sometimes be found in a cat's mouth and paws.

Now, don't worry! Not all cats have these germs, and even if they do, it doesn't mean you'll definitely get cat scratch fever. But if you do get scratched by a cat and notice that the area around the scratch is red, swollen, or painful, you should tell a grown-up right away.

Your grown-up might take you to the doctor, who can give you medicine to help your body fight the germs. In most cases, cat scratch fever isn't too serious and will go away on its own in a few weeks.

But it's always important to be kind to cats and treat them gently, so they don't feel scared or threatened and are less likely to scratch you.
