Cathexis is when we give something or someone a lot of meaning and importance in our lives. Think of it like when you put a sticky note on your fridge of something you want to remember, or when you hug someone you love. You're giving meaning to what the sticky note represents, or putting love into the hug. Cathexis is all about giving things meaning, and helps us to think, feel and act in different ways.
