Causa sui

Causa sui is a Latin phrase which means “caused by itself”. It is used to explain things that create or cause themselves. For example, when a person grows up, they cause themselves to become an adult. No one else can make them become an adult, they have to do it on their own. Similarly, when you learn something, you cause yourself to learn it; no one else can make you learn something.
