Cavalry tactics

Okay kiddo, so cavalry tactics are all about using horses in battle to help win the fight. Just like how you might use your toys to help you win a game with your friends!

So, imagine you are a knight riding your horse into battle. You have a bunch of other knights with you, and you are all on horses too. The first thing you need to do is line up in formation. This means you and your friends stand in a line, or a square, or a circle.

The formation you choose will depend on what you are trying to do. For example, if you want to charge straight ahead into the enemy's army, you might line up in a long line that's really wide at the front. This is called a wedge formation.

Now, your horses are really fast and strong, so you want to use them to help you defeat the enemy. One tactic is to charge straight into the enemy, knocking them over or pushing them back. You and your friends can also swing your swords, axes, or spears from horseback to do damage.

Another tactic is to ride around the enemy, keeping them distracted and confused. This is called circling or flanking. While you and your friends ride around, some of you might shoot arrows or throw spears at the enemy from a safe distance. This keeps them occupied and unable to fight back effectively.

Cavalry tactics also involve working together with other types of soldiers, like archers or foot soldiers. Sometimes you might ride in and create chaos, while your archers shoot arrows from behind you. Other times, your foot soldiers might need your help getting out of a tight spot, so you charge in and help them out.

Overall, cavalry tactics are all about using your horses to move quickly, attack strategically, and win the battle. It takes a lot of practice and skill to be a good cavalry soldier, but it can be really exciting and rewarding too!
