ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Cell cycle

The cell cycle is what helps all the cells in our bodies (like skin, muscle, and brain cells) to grow and divide into two identical cells. It's like a cycle because new cells are constantly being made to replace old cells.

The cell cycle usually takes about 24 hours. During this time, the cell gets bigger, copies all its important information to make two cells, and then splits into those two cells. The two new cells now have all the same information as the original cell, and they will go through the same process all over again to make two more cells.

And that’s how our bodies are able to keep growing and stay healthy!
