Okay kiddo, you know how our bodies are made up of zillions of tiny things called cells? Well, just like our toys can get old and broken, our cells can also get old and broken too. When this happens, our body needs to get rid of these broken cells so that they don't cause any harm.
The way our body gets rid of broken cells is by a process called "cell death". It's like telling a computer program to delete a file that's no longer needed.
There are two ways a cell can die. One is called "apoptosis" and this is like cell suicide. The cell decides on its own that it's time to go, and it triggers a bunch of chemical reactions that cause it to break down and disappear. The other way is called "necrosis" and this is like a cell being murdered. Something bad happens to the cell, like an infection or injury, and it causes the cell to die.
Even though it might sound scary that cells can die, it's actually a really important process for our body. If cells are damaged or old, they can cause problems if they're not taken care of. So, by getting rid of them through cell death, our body can keep everything running smoothly!
