ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Centrifugal switch

A centrifugal switch is like a little door that opens and closes based on how fast something is spinning. Imagine you have a toy top that you spin really fast. After it spins for a while, it starts to wobble and slow down. When it slows down enough, it falls over and stops spinning.

Now imagine that instead of falling over, the top had a little door on it. When the top is spinning really fast, the door stays closed. But when the top starts to wobble and slow down, the door opens up.

That's how a centrifugal switch works in machines that spin really fast, like electric motors. The switch helps turn the motor on and off based on how fast it's going. So when the motor is going really fast, the switch stays closed and the motor keeps running. But when the motor starts to slow down or stop, the switch opens up and turns the motor off. It's like a little helper that makes sure everything is working properly and helps keep the machine from breaking.
